HARMONY - Internationalisation and virtual exchange: Borderless between EU and Asian countries
Project summery
The project supports the modernisation, accessibility, and internationalisation of higher education institutions in India, Bangladesh, and Vietnam, while strengthening cooperation with European partners from Spain, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Lithuania.
Its mission is to enhance institutional capacities for managing internationalisation, focusing on Internationalisation at Home (IaH) as an urgent institutional priority.
By enabling universities to embed intercultural dimensions into education, research, and student services, HARMONY contributes to academic reform, promotes cultural diversity, and consolidates long-term EU–Asia cooperation in higher education.
Specific objectives
Map the internationalisation landscapes of Asian partner institutions and assess the integration of intercultural dimensions into curricula.
Build institutional capacities for internationalisation through staff training and the development of strategies and action plans aligned with IaH principles.
Strengthen intercultural knowledge and diversity awareness among students by transforming International Relations Offices into multicultural focal points.
Project Results
Country profiles and institutional strategies on internationalisation at home in India, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.
Adoption of university action plans and staff training programmes enhancing internationalisation capacities.
Strengthened International Relations Offices acting as intercultural hubs and providing improved services for students and staff.
Practical tools such as a Storytelling Manual and a Guide for International Students to support intercultural learning and institutional openness.
Consolidated cooperation frameworks and signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), ensuring sustainability and long-term EU–Asia academic partnerships.
